Userful: Secure desktop computers at a fraction of the cost

Userful is an Alberta-based company founded in 1999. In 2002, Userful launched Userful Desktop™ (formerly DiscoverStation), a public computing solution designed from the ground up for libraries. While the system has since been adopted by many other industries, libraries remain at the heart of the product with an average of 17,000 patrons logging into Userful Desktops every day.

Alberta's 10th fastest growing company

Userful has been experiencing rapid growth fueled by the increased demand for public computing and Desktop Linux. We were listed among Alberta's 50 fastest growing companies under $20 million in revenue two years in a row.

Industry leader in green computing

We pride ourselves as being the industry leader in "green computing". In 2006 Userful users saved over 13,500 tons of CO2 emissions over what would have been generated with stand-alone PCs-- the equivalent of taking 2,300 cars off the road.

Our service commitment

Userful is committed to providing our customers with exceptionally high levels of support in an affordable package.

Our warranty is simple and comprehensive: in the unlikely event of an outage, Userful will restore our customer's Userful Desktop software to working order including all customizations at no cost to the customer. The Userful support contract guarantees you will never have to worry about your public computers again.

"We've been impressed by Userful Desktop's up-time. The central computer box went 104 days between August and November 2004 without needing to be shut down."
